For me, the recorder is an instrument of extraordinary range. It can move naturally from early music to contemporary music, from solo concerts to school performances, and from intimate musical moments to striking artistic productions.
What matters most is expression, presence and a genuine connection with the audience. I want the recorder to surprise, move and engage listeners — whether they are hearing the instrument in a concert hall, a school, a festival or a completely new setting.

Recorder Player
As a performer, I am known for my desire to make the recorder feel vivid, engaging and approachable for all kinds of audiences. I perform in concert halls, festivals, schools and a wide range of events, always aiming to combine high artistic standards, strong stage presence and a direct connection with the audience.
I work as a recorder player in solo concerts, chamber music and my own artistic projects. My repertoire ranges from early music to contemporary music, and I also create programmes that combine different styles, storytelling and a personal approach to performance. I teach at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and serve as Executive Director and one of the Artistic Planners of the BRQ Vantaa Festival.
I have appeared as a soloist with more than ten Finnish symphony orchestras and collaborated with leading conductors including John Storgårds and Dima Slobodeniouk. I have premiered more than 40 works for recorder, including music by Marzi Nyman, Kalevi Aho, Jouni Hirvelä, Jukka Tiensuu and Juha Pisto. BIS Records released Kalevi Aho’s recorder concerto with me as soloist in 2023.
I am also active as a chamber musician in Finland and abroad. In recent years, I have performed with Kentala Consort and BRQ Vantaa Ensemble, and I have worked as an ensemble leader with orchestras including Vaasa City Orchestra, Seinäjoki City Orchestra, Mikkeli City Orchestra and the Lapland Chamber Orchestra.
In addition to concerts and recordings, my recorder playing can be heard in films, games, soundscape projects and on my YouTube channel.
