Eero Saunamäki
Eero Saunamäki is a Finnish saxophonist, recorder player and singer known for his versatility, distinctive artistic voice and strong stage presence. His work ranges from event music and private celebrations to concert halls, from early music to contemporary music, and from personal artistic projects to audience-friendly concert concepts.
Saunamäki moves naturally between different styles, line-ups and performance settings. As a saxophonist and singer, he works widely in live ensembles, private events, concerts and his own artistic projects. His performances combine presence, style, atmosphere and an approachable connection with the audience.
As a singer, he is especially drawn to pop, soul and jazz. He often combines vocals, saxophone and recorder in ways that make his performances personal, versatile and memorable.
As a recorder player, Saunamäki is one of the best-known performers in his field in Finland. He has appeared as a soloist with more than ten Finnish symphony orchestras and premiered numerous new works. His artistic work is defined by personal expression, strong stage presence and a desire to expand the way audiences experience the recorder.
He has collaborated with many leading conductors and composers. BIS Records released Kalevi Aho’s recorder concerto with Saunamäki as soloist in 2023.
As a saxophonist, Saunamäki has appeared as a soloist with Saimaa Sinfonietta, the Lapland Chamber Orchestra and Vaasa City Orchestra, and has worked with several leading Finnish orchestras. As a member of Aava Saxophone Quartet, he has performed for more than ten years in concert series around Finland and premiered new music by Finnish composers. He also works as a saxophonist in the Finnish Guards Band.
In addition to performing, Saunamäki works as a pedagogue, creates new concert concepts and actively develops his own artistic projects. He teaches at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki and serves as Executive Director and one of the Artistic Planners of the BRQ Vantaa Festival.
His work combines artistic ambition, communication, curiosity and a strong connection with audiences.
